I went to check the hive that had the dead out to see what I could find inside. There was honey and some granulated sugar in the hive. I cracked the top to see what was inside.
The neighboring bees had a feast! Honey in December!! If the weather permits, I'm sure that they will go back and clean up the frames.
After the honey and nectar is gone, I will protect the comb for the winter. That way the spring bees will have a great foundation to start storing honey for their favorite beekeeper.
Best to give it back to the bees for a winter treat.
